english thoughts

i am in england, and it isn't raining...shock! i am quite disappointed in Jane Austen, she makes England out to be a rainy and gloomy country, but then, i guess there is an epic love story to interest you. sadly, i have no love story to write about and it is in fact sunny. well, i flew from America here and i now officially have jetlag. but i couldn't miss the sunshine so i trekked around Oxford for a bit and it's just like a fairytale. the universities resemble old castles and they're surrounded by lush gardens and perfect grass. me and my brother made grass angels and fell asleep in the botanical gardens. and then, rather fatefully, we decided to go punting along the river(bad idea). my brother was pretty good apart from going backwards for a bit, it was me who was a failure. when he passed me the pole for my turn, it was so heavy i slipped down the bank with it and almost fell in the river. yeah, i was not cut out for punting...it was fun though.

me love paradise

on june 6 my flight took off to Rarotonga and my intrepid travels began. 5 days of golden sunshine and sea- my island paradise. i did the typical tourist thing and went snorkeling, which for me is a pretty big step( brothers used to pretend to be sharks and do the whole da dum da dum da etc, thing when i was little). but i liked it, and it was kinda fun when they swam up to my face. apart from trying( and failing) to achieve a tan i worked on my billards skills and my brother and i were able to play a game without him winning by an insane amount. everyone is super relaxed there, they eat coconuts, swim, sleep and play the ukelele. if anyone wanted to relax then Raratonga's your hero.

blogging newbee

i recently watched the movie "Julie and Julia"- which is about a woman who blogs about her resolution to cook her way through Julia Child's cook book in a year. afterwards, as i walked to our apartment in the pouring rain i thought that maybe i should write a blog about my travels...and as you do after you watch inspirational movies i had this idea that everyone would love my blog and i'd be famous...sounds pathetic but those kind of movies fill you with a surge of confidence- like after you watch Jackie Chan kung-fu movies and you think "I could do that" and then epically fail trying to do a back flip of the couch. so, this is the start to my blog about my travels across America, Europe and Asia(special thanks to Amy Adams for being such an inspiring Julia)
